🚨RED SOX FRONT OFFICE DRAMA: The wife of a Red Sox legend reportedly threw shade at the organization following a series of major firings, igniting discussions and speculation across Boston sports media. One outspoken family member, one internal controversy, and a fanbase now buzzing — could this public statement indicate deeper tensions within the franchise?

Wife of Red Sox legend throws shade at front office after fall out of major firings

It hasn’t been a pleasent spring season for the Boston Red Sox.

The fanbase is letting themselves be heard loud and clear every home game with “sell the team” chants echoing throughout Fenway Park. But another critical voice may cut a bit deeper, as the wife of Red Sox legend and former coach Jason Varitek has let her thoughts be known about the team’s current run.

Catherine Varitek appeared to take a major shot at the team’s general manager, Craig Breslow, who was at the center of her husband Jason’s firing from the team along with manager Alex Cora back in April.

Catherine’s post came after fans responded to one of her posts asking for them to return to the team.

Varitek, who played 15 years in Boston, transitioned to the front office following his retirement in 2012. He would serve as a special assistant to the general manager and game planning coordinator through 2020 where he would then be brought back to a field role by his former teammate Cora.

From there, Varitek continued to serve as a game planning coordinator until this past April when Breslow and the front office fired Cora and a majority of his staff. It was originally reported that Varitek had been fired by the Red Sox, but was later shared that he would be transitioned to a new role.

But based on Catherine’s post and the lack of an update since, it appears as if he passed on the opportunity.

The Red Sox currently sit at 20-27, good enough for last in the AL East under new manager Chad Trac
