Philadelphia, PA . May 2026
The Philadelphia Eagles may not be done strengthening their offensive line just yet.
As organized team activities officially begin, Philadelphia is reportedly bringing back a familiar face for a veteran workout that could potentially open the door toward a reunion before training camp.
According to reports circulating around league circles Monday morning, the Eagles have invited former starting offensive lineman Mekhi Becton to attend team workouts during OTA sessions this week.
The move immediately sparked speculation about a possible return to Philadelphia after Becton previously revived his career with the organization during the 2024 season.
At the time, the former first-round pick started 15 games and became an important part of the Eagles’ offensive front during their Super Bowl run.
During that 2024 campaign, Becton:
-
- allowed only 4 sacks
- posted a 71.2% run block win rate
- helped stabilize Philadelphia’s physical rushing attack
Although Becton struggled during his stint with the Chargers in 2025, many league evaluators still believe Philadelphia remains the best environment for him to succeed.
Internally, the Eagles continue carrying one of the NFL’s strongest starting offensive lines on paper.
The projected front entering 2026 includes:
- Jordan Mailata
- Landon Dickerson
- Cam Jurgens
- Tyler Steen
- Lane Johnson
However, league analysts believe depth across the offensive line has quietly become one of the roster’s biggest concerns entering the season.
Dickerson’s durability continues generating questions, while Tyler Steen still has plenty to prove before fully securing long-term trust as a full-time starter.
Philadelphia also drafted several developmental offensive linemen this offseason, but most are viewed as long-term projects rather than immediate contributors.
That reality has only increased the logic behind bringing Becton back into the building.
Several evaluators believe his positional versatility, experience inside the Eagles system, and familiarity with the locker room would make him a natural fit as both insurance depth and legitimate competition.
More importantly, Philadelphia already understands how to maximize Becton’s strengths inside its physical offensive identity.
After struggling elsewhere earlier in his NFL journey, the Eagles were the team that helped rebuild his value once before.
Now, with OTAs officially underway and Super Bowl expectations once again surrounding Philadelphia, the possibility of another reunion suddenly appears very real.
