Tottenham striker Alejo Véliz appears to be closing the chapter on his Spurs career after an emotional farewell at Rosario Central.
The Argentine forward joined Tottenham from Rosario Central in 2023 but struggled to establish himself in North London, leading to loan spells at Sevilla, Espanyol, and a return to his boyhood club last summer.
A permanent move now looks imminent, with Brazilian side Bahia expected to complete a €9 million deal after previously agreeing terms with Spurs. Following Rosario Central’s 4-0 Copa Libertadores victory over Universidad Central de Venezuela, Véliz was visibly emotional, fuelling reports that he has played his final game for the club.
Teammate Marco Ruben paid tribute to the 22-year-old, describing the occasion as a farewell and expressing hope that Véliz will one day return to Rosario Central.
Speaking after the match, Véliz reflected on the responsibility of wearing the club’s iconic No.9 shirt and vowed that whenever he returns, he will continue giving everything for the badge.
Tottenham are now set to permanently part ways with the striker, bringing an end to a spell that saw him make only eight appearances for the club.
