NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Saints are reportedly facing one of the biggest risks of their offseason after multiple sources revealed growing frustration from Devaughn Vele.
According to several internal NFL reports, Vele has reportedly developed serious concerns after learning the organization still plans to move forward with Spencer Rattler entering the 2026 season.

Although the Saints continue publicly describing Rattler as an important part of the franchise’s future, many people inside the organization reportedly still question the stability of the quarterback position.
That uncertainty has now started directly impacting the future of Devaughn Vele, who is currently viewed as one of the most important offensive weapons in New Orleans.
The veteran wide receiver already owns more than 3,785 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns throughout his professional football career entering the upcoming NFL season.
Vele is coming off one of the strongest stretches of his career and reportedly drew interest from several NFL teams before New Orleans worked aggressively to retain him.
However, according to league sources, Vele has always wanted to play alongside a stable quarterback capable of maximizing the full range of his abilities inside the offense.
That is exactly why the current quarterback situation in New Orleans has reportedly created growing concern among people close to Vele regarding his long term future.
Spencer Rattler is still viewed as a talented young quarterback with impressive arm strength and natural athletic ability that continues intriguing coaches throughout the organization.
But concerns surrounding consistency, decision making, and overall offensive control have reportedly continued following Rattler throughout the early stages of his NFL development.
According to several internal sources, the Saints are currently building much of their offensive structure for the new season around Spencer Rattler as the projected quarterback option.
That also means Devaughn Vele will likely spend the entire season operating inside an offensive system specifically designed around Rattler’s strengths and developmental limitations.
Several people around the NFL reportedly believe this is exactly what worries Vele the most because he understands how much it could affect his production and career momentum.
Many analysts believe that if Rattler continues struggling with consistency or offensive execution, Vele’s overall production and effective games could decline significantly next season.
One anonymous NFL executive revealed that several teams have already started quietly monitoring Vele’s situation in case tensions with New Orleans escalate during the upcoming season.
Although no official trade request has surfaced publicly at this point, the atmosphere surrounding the Saints has reportedly become far more sensitive over recent weeks internally.
Multiple sources also indicated that Vele still respects Spencer Rattler greatly but wants to play inside a more stable and efficient offensive environment long term.
“I do not want to waste the best years of my career continuing to wait for everything to become stable. As a receiver, you need a quarterback who can deliver the football to the right spot at the right time and help the entire offense move forward. I want to win, I want to compete at the highest level, and I cannot keep living in uncertainty every season.”
Those comments immediately sparked major debate throughout the Saints community as well as across the NFL over the past several days.
Many New Orleans fans are now increasingly worried the organization could lose another major offensive star if the quarterback situation is not stabilized soon enough.
While the Saints continue publicly placing their confidence in Spencer Rattler, the long term future between Devaughn Vele and New Orleans is quickly becoming a massive question mark.
