Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman is well aware he’s in the conversation to be a Hall of Famer.

Closer Aroldis Chapman's tenure with the Red Sox is helping his Hall of Fame case

Chapman moved into 10th all-time in saves on Monday with his 378th save, and then picked up his 379th on Wednesday in the Red Sox’s sweep of the Kansas City Royals.

With Chapman now in the top-10 in all-time saves, his name has come up in conversation as a Hall of Famer as five of the nine ahead of him have been inducted, while Craig Kimbrel is still playing. With that, the Red Sox closer hopes he will be inducted into Cooperstown when his career is over.

“I’ve been asked that question lately, a lot,” Chapman said. “At the end of the day, every ballplayer would like to be in the Hall of Fame. At the same time, the only thing that I can control right now is to go out there and keep playing, keep performing every single day, and put up numbers, and at the end of the day, we’ll see what happens.”

Chapman is also just 10 strikeouts away from passing Hoyt Wilhelm for most strikeouts by a reliever all-time, which would also add to his Hall of Fame case.
