🦅BREAKING NEWS: Former Eagles Defensive Star Frustrated With Cardinals Culture, Wants Trade Back to Philadelphia 👇👇👇

Just one year after leaving Philadelphia in free agency, a familiar face could be on his way back to the Eagles.

According to league sources, tensions have reportedly grown between a veteran pass rusher and his current team, leading to speculation that a trade could be on the horizon before training camp begins.

The situation has quickly become one of the most talked-about storylines around the NFL, especially considering the player’s history with the Eagles and the success he enjoyed during his time in Philadelphia.

That player is Josh Sweat, the former Eagles star who signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals last offseason. Sweat joined Arizona hoping to reunite with former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, but circumstances have changed dramatically since then.

Reports indicate Sweat has grown frustrated with the direction of the organization and has remained away from voluntary team activities. Multiple insiders believe Arizona has begun listening to trade inquiries and would be open to discussing a deal if the right offer emerges.

Philadelphia has naturally emerged as one of the most logical destinations.

The Eagles know exactly what Sweat brings to the field. During the 2025 season, he recorded 30 total tackles, 20 solo stops, 13 tackles for loss, a career-high 12 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two passes defended while starting all 17 games.

More importantly, Sweat already understands Vic Fangio’s defensive philosophy and has strong relationships throughout the Eagles locker room. Several veterans who played alongside him remain key leaders on the current roster.

According to sources close to the situation, Sweat would welcome a return to Philadelphia if a trade can be completed.

“Philadelphia never stopped feeling like home. The fans, the locker room, the culture, that’s where I played my best football. If the opportunity is there, I’d absolutely welcome it,” Sweat reportedly told those close to him.

For the Cardinals, moving Sweat would free up significant financial flexibility while allowing them to continue reshaping the roster. For the Eagles, adding a proven pass rusher with championship experience could instantly strengthen an already dangerous defense.

Whether negotiations ultimately gain momentum remains to be seen, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear.

The possibility of Josh Sweat wearing midnight green once again is no longer being viewed as impossible.
