Frustration is boiling over among Tottenham Hotspur supporters after their side missed a huge opportunity to secure Premier League survival against fierce rivals Chelsea.
Spurs headed to Stamford Bridge knowing that even a single point would have put them in a far stronger position in the relegation battle against West Ham United. Instead, Tottenham once again fell short, suffering a damaging 2-1 defeat as Chelsea completed a league double over the North London side.
Although several Tottenham players struggled on the night, much of the criticism from fans has been directed toward Randal Kolo Muani, who endured another deeply disappointing performance operating in an unfamiliar right-wing role.
The French forward arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain with hopes that he could rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents. However, aside from a memorable hat-trick performance against PSG earlier in the season — which still ended in defeat — Kolo Muani has largely failed to make a positive impact at Spurs.
Supporters are now increasingly convinced the club can no longer afford to persist with him in such a crucial stage of the campaign, especially with survival still hanging in the balance.
The problem for manager Roberto De Zerbi is that Tottenham’s injury crisis has left him with very few attacking alternatives.
If Dominic Solanke is not fit enough to start against Everton, De Zerbi may once again be forced into difficult tactical compromises. And even if Solanke returns, there are still major concerns about whether either he or Richarlison can effectively operate on the right side of a front three.
As a result, some supporters have begun suggesting a bold and highly unconventional solution — moving Pedro Porro further forward into the right-wing position.
Porro has arguably been one of Tottenham’s brightest performers in recent weeks and, given his naturally attacking qualities as a wing-back, many fans believe he could offer far more creativity and intensity in advanced areas than Kolo Muani currently provides.
Such a move would likely allow Djed Spence to return to the starting lineup at right-back, where he appears more comfortable defensively.
There are still unresolved questions surrounding the balance of the backline — particularly regarding Destiny Udogie and other defensive options — but many supporters now feel almost any alternative would be preferable to continuing with Kolo Muani in his current role.
While using Porro as a right winger may sound unconventional, there is growing belief that Spurs need bold decisions if they are to avoid disaster on the final day of the season.
For Tottenham, survival now depends on finding solutions quickly — and after recent performances, many fans no longer believe Kolo Muani can be part of the answer.
