THE ENTIRE NFC IS ON NOTICE! Desperate 49ers Preparing to Shock the League With a Massive Trade Haul for the 5-Time Pro Bowler

The San Francisco 49ers were dealt a significant blow this week when the Los Angeles Rams acquired elite edge rusher Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. The move instantly raises the stakes in an already competitive NFC West and puts the pressure squarely on general manager John Lynch to respond.

With the division arms race intensifying, Lynch should be aggressively pursuing Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby. For months, the 49ers have been quietly linked to the dynamic pass rusher, and now may be the perfect time to strike.

Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, remains one of the most productive edge defenders in the league. He recorded 10 sacks last season despite playing on a rebuilding Raiders team and has consistently performed at an All-Pro level throughout his prime. At 28 years old and under contract for several more seasons, he represents a long-term solution rather than a short-term rental.

A Natural Fit Opposite Nick Bosa

Pairing Crosby with Nick Bosa would create one of the most fearsome edge duos in the NFL. For years, the 49ers have searched for a consistent, high-level complement to Bosa. Crosby’s explosive first step, relentless motor, and run-stopping ability would immediately elevate San Francisco’s defensive front to elite status.

Earlier this offseason, the Raiders and Baltimore Ravens had a trade agreement in place that would have sent Crosby to the Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks. That deal collapsed after Crosby failed a physical due to concerns regarding his knee, which required surgery earlier in the year. Since then, Crosby has remained with Las Vegas, but the failed trade has likely altered the market.

Time for the 49ers to Make Their Move

While the Ravens’ concerns created uncertainty, the 49ers cannot afford to sit idle. The Seattle Seahawks recently reinforced their own edge by extending Derick Hall, further signaling that the NFC West will be a battle of attrition. San Francisco’s defense, already talented, needs one more premium piece to return to championship form.

A realistic trade package could involve the 49ers sending a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to Las Vegas. While not quite as steep as Baltimore’s original offer, it would still represent a massive haul for a Raiders team clearly in rebuild mode. Given the medical questions surrounding Crosby, Las Vegas may be more willing to negotiate than earlier in the offseason.

Lynch has never been afraid to make bold moves. Acquiring Crosby would signal to the rest of the league that the 49ers are all-in for 2026. It would also address a clear roster need while injecting much-needed disruption into opposing backfields.

The Broader Picture

The Rams’ acquisition of Garrett has shifted the balance of power in the conference. If the 49ers land Crosby, they not only neutralize that advantage but potentially surpass their divisional rivals in defensive talent.

The entire NFC should be paying attention. A Bosa-Crosby edge tandem, supported by San Francisco’s established defensive core, could become one of the most dominant units in football.

John Lynch has the opportunity to swing the pendulum back in the 49ers’ favor. The question is no longer whether San Francisco needs an edge rusher — it’s whether they have the conviction to pay the price for one of the best available.

If recent history is any indication, expect the 49ers to be aggressive. The Maxx Crosby sweepstakes may be entering their most critical phase, and San Francisco appears poised to make a statement.
