The New York Yankees are one of the best teams inΒ MLBΒ this season and have spent the past couple of weeks climbing back into the American League East race, but they were dealt a major blow at the worst possible time. It was announced that Aaron Judge is dealing with a bone bruise in his shoulder, forcing the two-time reigning MVP out of the lineup as the Yankees prepare for a crucial stretch of games.
New York has closed the gap to just one game behind the Tampa Bay Rays and is set to begin a massive series against the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians. Now, suddenly, the Yankees have a depth problem they cannot ignore.

Outfield Depth Is Becoming a Serious Concern
Judge is not the only injured outfielder on the roster. Jasson Dominguez remains sidelined, and Giancarlo Stanton is still unavailable as well. What once looked like a position of strength is quickly becoming an area of concern.
The Yankees are essentially one more injury away from having almost no proven outfield depth available. For a team with World Series aspirations, that is a dangerous position to be in heading into the second half of the season. Waiting for players to get healthy may not be enough.
Jo Adell Makes Perfect Sense

If the Yankees decide to pursue help before the trade deadline, one name stands out above the rest: Jo Adell.
The Los Angeles Angels currently sit near the bottom of the American League standings and could become sellers if their struggles continue. Adell, meanwhile, has quietly developed into a productive right-handed hitter with legitimate power.
That profile fits exactly what the Yankees need. Not only would Adell provide insurance while Judge recovers, but he would also add another right-handed bat to a lineup that could use more balance.
A Move for the Present and Future
This would not be a rental-type acquisition. Adell is still young enough to be part of the Yankeesβ plans beyond 2026, making him an attractive long-term option as well as a short-term solution.
The Yankees cannot replace Aaron Judge. No team can replace a player of that caliber. What they can do is strengthen a roster that suddenly looks thinner than it did a week ago. If New York is serious about making another championship run, Jo Adell may be the perfect target.
