In May 2026, Lucas suffered a complete rupture of his right Achilles tendon during a Brazilian league match against Bahia. The injury happened shortly after he had returned from another spell on the sidelines, making it an especially difficult moment for the former Tottenham Hotspur star. He underwent surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the 2026 season.

After the operation, Lucas posted an emotional message saying he would overcome the challenge and return stronger, writing: “I’ll win this battle too.”
