Aaron Boone is one of the longest-tenured active managers in the MLB. The 53-year-old is now in his ninth season as the New York Yankees skipper this year, having stepped into the role at the start of the 2018 season. Since then, Boone has garnered a reputation as one of the most hot-headed managers in the game, especially in the latter half of his tenure with the Yankees.
On Tuesday, Aaron Boone received his second ejection of the 2026 campaign as the New York Yankees sealed the series at home against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 5-4 win. Brennan Miller, the second-base umpire on the night, tossed the Yankees manager in the seventh inning. Boone paid the price for venting his fury at Miller over some of the decisions in the game.
It started in the bottom of the fourth inning when shortstop Anthony Volpe was ruled out in his attempt to steal second base. The Yankees requested a video review, but the on-field decision stood. Aaron Boone was furious with the call, with his team losing their lone review, while he kept chirping expletives at Miller.

Although his rage subsided for a while, Boone flared up in the seventh inning. Blue Jays center fielder Daulton Varsho claimed a contentious diving catch just above the ground. The second-base official ruled it out to end the inning. Since he could not challenge the call, Boone gave sarcastic applause to Miller from the dugout.
The official immediately made the signal to remove Aaron Boone from the game. The latter rushed out onto the field to have a little argument with Miller. Boone vented his full fury before leaving the game. Boone also had a famous on-field spat with Miller back in 2019.
Aaron Boone Responds To Ejection vs. Blue Jays
Later, Aaron Boone spoke about his ejection in the postgame press conference at Yankee Stadium. He feels the officials made a couple of wrong calls on the night. Nevertheless, Boone admitted he stepped over the line with his reaction.
