Philadelphia, PA . June 2026
The end had been anticipated for months, but that did not make it any easier when the moment finally arrived.
One of the most accomplished wide receivers in franchise history is officially moving on, closing the chapter on a remarkable four-year run that helped define one of the most successful eras in recent Philadelphia Eagles history.
Shortly after news of his trade to the New England Patriots became official, A.J. Brown shared an emotional farewell message to the city that transformed his career and helped him achieve the ultimate goal in football.
“If I never came to Philadelphia, I don’t think I’d ever know what it feels like to become a Super Bowl champion. This city changed my career, but more importantly, it changed my life. The memories, the battles, the brothers I gained, and the love from Eagles fans are things I’ll carry forever. No matter where football takes me next, I’ll never forget this incredible journey. Thank you, Philly.”
For Eagles fans, those words carried significant weight.
Brown arrived in Philadelphia during the 2022 NFL Draft and immediately changed the identity of the offense. His physical style, elite route running, and ability to dominate games helped elevate the Eagles into a perennial championship contender.
Over four seasons, Brown recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns and produced some of the greatest receiving seasons in franchise history.
His 2022 and 2023 seasons each surpassed 1,400 receiving yards, while his 106 receptions in 2023 established a new single-season franchise record for an Eagles wide receiver.
Brown also earned three All-Pro selections and two Pro Bowl appearances during his time in Philadelphia.
More importantly, he helped deliver a Super Bowl championship and played a major role in keeping the Eagles among the NFL’s elite teams throughout his tenure.
The trade sends Brown to New England, where he will reunite with head coach Mike Vrabel, a familiar face from his early years with the Tennessee Titans.
Meanwhile, the Eagles move forward with DeVonta Smith expected to assume the role of the team’s top receiving option.
Still, replacing Brown’s production, leadership, and competitive fire will not be easy.
For many fans, the memories of his touchdown celebrations, record-breaking performances, and unforgettable postseason moments will remain forever connected to one of the most successful chapters in franchise history.
His time in Philadelphia may be over, but his place in Eagles history is secure.
