Colson Montgomery homered to trigger a two-run seventh inning as the Chicago White Sox rallied for a 2-1 win over the visiting Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon to complete a three-game sweep.
Tristan Peters had two hits and the game-winning RBI for the White Sox, who have won five in a row for the third time this season. The Sox own a 12-6 record in 1-run games this season, including a 7-3 mark in May.
Chicago right-hander Sean Burke went 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out six and walking two. Four relievers combined to get the final 11 outs as Brandon Eisert (1-0) struck out the only batter he faced in seventh and Tyler Davis retired the final two batters to earn his first save.
Detroit starter Keider Montero threw six shutout innings on 65 pitches. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed two hits, struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.
Spencer Torkelson had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who have lost four in a row and 13 of 15.

Torkelson’s one-out double into the left-field corner in the first scored Kevin McGonigle from first for a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers wheeled in Drew Anderson (2-3) in the seventh to protect the one-run lead, but he left a changeup in the middle of the zone and Montgomery launched it over the fence in right to tie it 1-1.
After a single by Chase Meidroth, Jacob Gonzalez followed with his first MLB hit in his debut. Peters then grounded an opposite-field single through the left side to drive in Meidroth with the go-ahead run.
Montero retired the first eight in order before Rikuu Nishida reached on an infield single with two outs in the third. He then retired the next six in a row before Peters doubled down the first base line with two outs in the fifth, but Drew Romo grounded back to the mound to end the threat.White Sox win another 1-run game to sweep Tigers

After surrendering the first-inning run, Burke had a clean second inning and pitched around a lead-off walk by Kerry Carpenter in the fourth. Carpenter was playing his first game since crashing into the right field wall and injuring his left shoulder on May 9 against the Kansas City Royals.
After a six-pitch fifth inning, McGonigle appealed a called strike three to start the sixth and it was overturned to become ball four. Chris Murphy entered for Burke with one out in the sixth and walked the first batter he faced, but he got Riley Greene to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.
