The San Francisco Giants did not have a reason for a thrusting celebration on Wednesday, as they just got swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Giants fell to Arizona in the series finale at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California, by a 3-2 score. San Francisco probably could have won that game if not for an embarrassing baserunning gaffe in the eighth inning, where shortstop Willy Adames was nabbed at home plate after getting waved home by third-base coach Hector Borg.

Add that to the struggles Tony Vitello has dealt with so far in his challenging first season as an MLB manager.
“It’s kind of hard to say without having a full scope of looking at it,” Vitello said after the game, via Maria Guardado of MLB.com.
“We’ve got most of that play in front of us, but it’s very easy to say you’d like to do it the other way when the guy gets thrown out.”
The 47-year-old Vitello also called out his team’s self-inflicted pain.
“We’ve created a lot of problems by digging ourselves in a hole early and trying like crazy to get out,” Vitello said. “I think what we’ve all done is driven ourselves a little bit too crazy.”
Vitello’s Giants are now 12 games under .500 with a 22-34 record. Only the Colorado Rockies have a worse record than San Francisco in the National League.
But the Giants will have to move on to the next series and try to shake off their malaise. They have a three-game series coming up against Colorado that begins on Friday at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
