The Houston Astros are set to play the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. It is no secret that the Astros have dealt with injury concerns this season. The ball club received encouraging Josh Hader and Christian Javier injury updates before Wednesday’s game, though.
According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Javier will throw a live batting practice on Friday.
“Cristian Javier will throw a live BP on Friday, Joe Espada said. It’s Javier’s first time facing hitters since his shoulder strain,” Rome reported.
Rome also reports that Hader could return soon.
“Josh Hader will pitch today and tomorrow for Triple-A Sugar Land, which should be the final step before he returns to the active roster,” Rome shared.
Javier continues to recover from a shoulder strain. Meanwhile, Hader is battling back from a bicep injury.
Javier took a step in the right direction. He still has work to do before returning, though. Hader could return very soon assuming no setbacks occur. Updates on Christian Javier and Josh Hader’s injury statuses will be monitored and provided as they are made available.
Houston currently holds a 24-32 overall record. The Astros are in fourth place in the American League West standings. It is a winnable division, though, as the ball club only trails the first place Seattle Mariners by 3.5 games as of this story’s writing.
Houston and the Rangers are currently tied 1-1 in their four-game series. The Astros will look to earn a victory in the third contest of the series on Wednesday night at 8:05 PM EST.
