🚨WHITE SOX FUTURE ALERT: Chicago is reportedly promoting another exciting prospect, and this move could signal that the rebuild is about to get a lot more interesting. One young name may not fix everything overnight, but inside a frustrated fanbase desperate for hope, this call-up feels like the kind of spark that can change the entire conversation.

The White Sox took the first game in the series against the Minnesota Twins yesterday, as Munetaka Murakami and Drew Romo powered them to victory. They also got a boost from Rikuu Nishida, as he notched a base hit and threw a runner out at home.

Chicago White Sox Surprising Start: Can They Keep It Up?

The White Sox acquired David Sandlin in a trade with the Boston Red Sox right before the season started. Prior to the trade, he was ranked as the 8th best prospect in the Boston Red Sox system, according to the 2025 MLB Pipeline Top-30 Boston Red Sox prospects list. He was the main piece in the Jordan Hicks trade, as the White Sox were willing to take on salary to get Sandlin in their organization.

Sandlin was very effective in the Red Sox organization last season in AA, as he had a 3.62 ERA over 82 innings. He struck out 86 batters, had a 1.14 WHIP, and a very good .227 batting average against. He struggled when he was promoted to AAA, but he has been a very good pitcher over his minor league career as a whole.

Rikuu Nishida's MLB dream with Chicago, IL White Sox

Sandlin began the season on the injured list and made his White Sox organizational debut a few weeks ago with the Winston-Salem Dash. After dominating High-A, he made his way back to AAA, starting a few games with the Knights.

Sandlin was as good as advertised, as he was lights out with the Knights. Over 12 innings, he has a .75 ERA, striking out 17 batters. This is a great sign, as he was able to display his nasty arsenal.

4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

71 pitches, 47 strikes

I think they have to seriously consider having him replace Fedde in the rotation sooner rather than later. pic.twitter.com/8EziFYCxqm

While he had a little trouble with his control earlier in the season, he has been better in Charlotte. It is unclear what the corresponding move will be, but whatever it is, it will give us a hint as to how the White Sox plan to utilize Sandlin. If they DFA a reliever, he will likely be a reliever, but if they DFA a starter, he will likely get some starts.

It seems that Chris Getz isn’t messing around, as he is trying to get his best 26 guys on the active roster. Once Hagen Smith and Braden Montgomery make it up to the majors, they will be even more exciting.
