Red Sox Get Encouraging Garrett Crochet Update

The Boston Red Sox have been eagerly awaiting the return of Garrett Crochet, who has been sidelined since April 25 due to shoulder inflammation. His journey back to the mound took a significant step forward this Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment in his recovery process.

After weeks of anticipation, Crochet finally faced live hitters, an essential milestone since his stint on the Injured List began. This development is the most encouraging news for Red Sox fans and the team itself, as Crochet’s presence on the mound could be a game-changer for Boston’s pitching rotation.

Tim Healey of The Boston Globe shared on X that Crochet managed to throw an inning of live batting practice, checking off a crucial box in his comeback journey. However, Healey also noted that Crochet would need at least one, if not several more outings before he’s game-ready for the Red Sox.

This update is a beacon of hope for the Red Sox, as Crochet has expressed his desire to skip a minor league rehab assignment. Earlier this month, he stated, “As of right now, I don’t intend on taking (a rehab assignment).

Those decisions are above me, but I hope I won’t need one. … We’re trying to win games, so I’d rather not waste innings on a rehab assignment when I feel like I can contribute.”

Should Crochet’s plans hold, we might see him back in action sooner rather than later. With an inning against live hitters completed, the next few days will be crucial in determining his readiness.

If he emerges without any soreness, expect a longer outing in his subsequent appearance. This progress should send a ripple of concern through the American League East, as a healthy Crochet could bolster Boston’s pitching arsenal significantly.

While Crochet’s return timeline remains fluid, the optimism surrounding his recovery is palpable. His determination to rejoin the team without a rehab stint highlights his readiness to contribute to Boston’s pursuit of victories. As the Red Sox continue their campaign, Crochet’s imminent return could be the boost they need to make waves in the league.
