Rangers Drop Explosive Lineup Shake-Up Ahead of High-Stakes Astros Clash — The Risky Changes That Could Decide the AL West Battle

The Texas Rangers are looking to bounce back after a no-hitter, and the question on everyone’s mind is: What’s the game plan for recovery? As they gear up to face the Houston Astros, manager Skip Schumaker is taking ownership, saying, “it starts with me.” But let’s be honest, while Schumaker can strategize and motivate, it’s the players who need to deliver on the field.

Facing a lineup shake-up isn’t out of the question for the Rangers, though their options are slim. Injuries have sidelined key players like Corey Seager, Josh Smith, and Wyatt Langford.

Langford, the promising third-year outfielder, is inching closer to a return but still needs about a week before even considering a rehab assignment. Meanwhile, the lineup has been struggling, especially when it comes to capitalizing with runners in scoring position.

A significant concern heading into Tuesday’s clash was the availability of Josh Jung. Dealing with a sore left shoulder, he missed the last two games, and his absence was felt.

Thankfully, Jung is set to return to the lineup, bringing his .300 batting average and much-needed power back to the order. His presence is crucial, particularly given his past success against Houston’s pitcher Alexander.

Jung has already notched a home run and two RBIs against him, boasting a perfect batting average in those limited encounters.

Currently, the Rangers are in a rough patch, with a 3-7 record over their last 10 games. They’ve dropped three of four games against the Astros and find themselves sitting at 24-29, five games below .500. The 2.5-game gap behind the Athletics feels daunting, almost like staring across the Grand Canyon.

With only five batters on the active roster having faced Alexander, the Rangers are banking on Jung to provide a spark. His track record against Alexander, combined with Brandon Nimmo’s recent success, offers a glimmer of hope. As the Rangers look to turn the tide, every advantage counts, and getting Jung back in action could be the catalyst they desperately need.
