The Detroit Lions may have quietly landed one of the toughest and most instinctive rookie linebackers anywhere in the 2026 NFL Draft.
As voluntary minicamp activities continue before official OTAs begin next week, several young Lions defenders have already started generating strong internal momentum throughout offseason practices.
One rookie linebacker in particular is quickly earning attention inside Detroit’s building.
According to team observers surrounding early offseason workouts, fourth-round linebacker Jimmy Rolder has already emerged as one of the most energetic and coachable defenders in Detroit’s rookie class.
The former Michigan standout recently delivered one of the most revealing comments yet about the culture shift he has experienced since arriving in Detroit.
“I was a hitter in college . raw, aggressive, instinctive. But in Detroit, it’s different. The standard here is higher, the coaching is sharper, and I’m learning how to play smarter every snap. This place doesn’t just expect greatness . it teaches you how to reach it.”
The comments reportedly generated strong reactions internally because they reflected exactly the type of mentality head coach Dan Campbell has spent years building throughout the Lions organization.

Rolder originally entered the NFL after Detroit selected him during the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the 118th overall pick.
