As we approach the 2026 trade deadline, the Texas Rangers find themselves in a precarious position, teetering between being buyers or sellers. The team has shown some spark lately, going 7-3 in their last 10 games and winning three straight series.<\/p>\n

They’re just 1.5 games shy of the Seattle Mariners for the division lead. Yet, despite this momentum, the Rangers remain a game under .500, part of a crowded field of teams hovering on the playoff bubble.<\/p>\n

Deciding whether to buy or sell isn’t just about eyeing the postseason this year. The Rangers have to weigh their chances of making a real impact in October against the long-term health of the franchise. With an aging roster and a farm system that could use a boost, the decision might lean toward planning for the future sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

If the Rangers do pivot to selling, MLB insider Jeff Passan points to Joc Pederson as a prime trade candidate.
