Derrick Goold reports.<\/p>\n<div id=\"26368884be01481466e4d0332e8dd2c4\">\n<div>\n<article>Hunter Dobbins\u2019 next appearance will be as a starter. #stlcards plan to upshift to a six-man rotation in the coming week.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This comes after Hunter Dobbins\u2019 recent success in a bulk innings role.<\/p>\n<p>Dobbins, 26, was acquired in the Willson Contreras trade with the Boston Red Sox. This season, the right-hander has flashed high-90s velo, a split-finger with good depth, and an effective sweeper. His above-average arsenal has him at a 2.77 ERA through his first 13 innings pitched.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the Cardinals\u2018 rotation has been fairly mediocre. St. Louis\u2019 starters rank 12th in ERA, 17th in innings pitched, and 25th in strikeouts.<\/p>\n<p>Dobbins is sure to provide more quality innings for the otherwise average Cardinal rotation.<\/p>\n<p>Fans are interested in President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom\u2019s new approach.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Reactions to the Cardinals Roster Shakeup<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Here\u2019s what people are saying:<\/p>\n<p>Jeff Jones : \u201cHunter Dobbins\u2019 next appearance will be in the big leagues as a starter, Marmol said this morning. They\u2019ll slot him after the off day and run a six-man rotation for at least one turn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>STL Sports Central : \u201cThe #STLCards are moving RHP Hunter Dobbins to a starting role as they shift to a 6-man rotation, @dgoold reports. Dobbins has been excellent as a long reliever, posting a 1.04 ERA in two appearances (8.2 IP).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RedBird Gal : \u201cI would replace Leahy, but maybe this is an intermediate step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jason Hogan : \u201cTerrible move. Leave him as the long reliever since Leahy and Libby can\u2019t pitch more than 5 innings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brenden Schaeffer : \u201cMarmol detailed that the plan for Dobbins all along was the two relief outings he had the past week, followed by a big league start. He will slot into the rotation for a start at some point soon, date TBA. He narrowly missed a game-tying walk with the bases loaded via a catcher\u2019s ABS challenge by Jimmy Crooks that turned a ball into a strike\u2013eventually leading to a Sal Stewart groundout.<\/p>\n<p>For the cherry on top, Jordan Walker tied his career high in home runs with his 16th blast on the young season\u2013a 3-2 pitch he inside-outed to right center field.<\/p>\n<p>With so many things going their way, the one area of the team that seems to be lagging is the rotation.
