During the January transfer window, Brazilian club Bahia expressed serious interest in signing the 22-year-old outright, and Tottenham were open to a deal. The north London side accepted an offer, but Rosario Central refused to terminate his loan early, preventing an immediate departure.<\/p>\n
By February, it was reported that a fee of approximately \u20ac9m had been agreed for V\u00e9liz to make a permanent move to Bahia once the summer window opens.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, he found the net in Rosario Central\u2019s dominant 4-0 Copa Libertadores victory over Universidad Central de Venezuela. His emotional reaction at full time fuelled widespread speculation that it could have been his final outing for the club.<\/p>\n
The next day, reports from Argentina suggested he had already bid farewell to his teammates at the Gigante de Arroyito, with his transfer to Bahia expected to be finalised when his loan concludes.<\/p>\n
Club captain Marco Ruben spoke warmly of the striker, wishing him well, acknowledging his contribution to the team, and expressing hope that they would cross paths again one day. V\u00e9liz himself spoke of the honour of wearing the club\u2019s famous number nine shirt and pledged to give his all wherever his career leads him next.<\/p>\n
