Let\u2019s dive into it:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How does the early RB situation look?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>First off, it\u2019s safe to say we would all be shocked if\u00a0<strong>Alvin Kamara<\/strong>\u00a0shows up for any of the voluntary sessions we\u2019ll worry the mandatory practices next month.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"js_adsconex_parallax_1\" data-type=\"parallax\">\n<div class=\"adsconex-parallax_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"adsconex-parallax_ad-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"adsconex-parallax_ad\" align=\"center\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_inpage_1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>With that, who shows up big now could very well have a leg up on not only making the team in September, but taking the lead on a possible shot at RB2.<\/p>\n<p>We have gone round and round on the\u00a0<strong>dozens of reasons why Kamara<\/strong>\u00a0will eventually make it to New Orleans for Season No. 10 and dozens why he won\u2019t, so it can be expected that\u00a0Kendre Miller, Devin Neal and maybe even Audric Estim\u00e9 will be working out as if the backup to newly signed Travis Etienne will be for the taking.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_3\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"aditude_inline_container aditude_ic_2\">\n<div id=\"aditude_article_inline_2\" class=\"aditude_div\" data-google-query-id=\"CI2MmP3G05QDFcLtFgUdEJYNqw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/63317524\/yardbarker\/articles\/article_dynamic_2_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ac_119575839\" class=\"article_chunk type_50\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme\">\n<p>Also,\u00a0Ty Chandler, who spent four seasons in Minnesota as a backup, should see some reps, as well as undrafted free agent CJ Donaldson out of Ohio State.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who shines in the defensive backfield?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As of this writing, it\u2019s safe to say that the Saints situation at cornerback might be the scariest spot on the field. Will someone step up?<\/p>\n<p>What about\u00a0Julian Blackmon, who was signed before last year to a one-year deal for $5.5 million, but was injured in the opening game and missed the rest of the season? Also signed as a free agent is Martin Emerson, who spent his first four (sometimes injured) seasons with the Browns.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_5\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Will anyone take the lead at WR3?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re a Saints fan, you\u2019re likely excited about the prospect of more offensive weapons surrounding\u00a0<strong>Tyler Shough<\/strong> heading into 2026. What will come out of these OTAs when it comes to this topic? It seems like figuring out who WR3 might be will begin now.<\/p>\n<p>Heading into the offseason, Devaughn Vel\u00e9, who was picked up in a trade from Denver last season, will get every opportunity to win the spot. Where does fourth-round pick Bryce Lance fit in? He\u2019s got the height to play in the slot, but he might be more suited to backup Olave or Tyson.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_7\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Same could be said for a guy who is a fan favorite even though he hasn\u2019t played a single down in New Orleans: Ja\u2019Lynn Polk, whom the Saints traded a sixth-round pick to New England last offseason to acquire. He has been injured since the move was made, but he is expected to be ready at some point during OTAs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_8\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There\u2019s also former fifth-round pick Bub Means and Trey Palmer, who was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay before the start of the 2025 season and then spent most of the year on injured reserve. And of course, Mason Tipton, who has 25 catches over 25 games with the Saints the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<div class=\"in-article-ad\">\n<div id=\"div_adsconex_banner_responsive_9\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"aditude_inline_container aditude_ic_5\">\n<div id=\"aditude_article_inline_5\" class=\"aditude_div\" data-google-query-id=\"CLeEyv7G05QDFcpRwgUd7Y8ljg\">\n<div data-ad-curtain=\"placeholder\">\n<div data-ad-curtain=\"container\">\n<div data-ad-curtain=\"decoy\"><\/div>\n<div data-ad-curtain=\"curtain\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/63317524\/yardbarker\/articles\/article_dynamic_5_0__container__\" data-ad-curtain=\"hidden-ad\">\n<div class=\"feedback-button-content\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some also will be looking to see what other longshots to make the team might do, including UDFA\u00a0<strong>Brock Rechsteiner<\/strong>, Kevin Austin (eight games played each in 2024 and 2025) and Damien Alford from the CFL.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What\u2019s NOT all that important?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How much\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Jordyn Tyson<\/strong><strong>\u00a0practices in minicamp.\u00a0<\/strong>While it is expected the eighth overall pick in last month\u2019s NFL Draft will be there for OTAs, the Saints have already shown they\u2019re going to limit how much he works in the offseason in an effort to keep him fresh and ready for Week 1. He only practiced one of the two days for rookie minicamp earlier this month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Whether there\u2019s any word on Kamara or Cam Jordan before the end of minicamp.<\/strong>\u00a0Even if Kamara shows up, he\u2019s probably not going to participate \u2013 even during mandatory sessions in mid-June. However, one has to wonder if nine-game starter Shough will regress a bit after such a small sample size.
