The Houston Astros have not gotten a break this season when it comes to injuries, and Hunter Brown has been one of the players on the shelf. Brown has dealt with a shoulder strain and was placed on the injured list at the beginning of April, and then was put on the 60-day IL on May 9. Though he’s spent a lot of time sidelined, it looks like he could be making his way back soon.<\/p>\n

The latest update shows that he’ll be making a rehab assignment this weekend, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic.<\/p>\n

\u201cHunter Brown was up to 96 mph in a 22-pitch live batting practice yesterday, Joe Espada said. Provided Brown feels good today, he will start a rehab assignment this weekend,\u201d Rome wrote on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

That’s good news for the Astros, as they’ve had one of the worst rotations in the league without him. They’re last in team ERA, and Mike Burrrows, Lance McCullens Jr., and Tatsuya Imai have negative bWAR marks. On the other hand, Peter Lambert and Spencer Arrighetti have played well with Brown sidelined.<\/p>\n

If the Astros want any chance of salvaging their season, they’re going to need to get their ace back soon. They’re currently 20-30 and fourth in the AL West.<\/p>\n

Jose Altuve was the latest player for the Astros to get placed on the IL with an oblique strain, and it’s uncertain when he’ll return to the field.<\/p>\n
